The Rt Revd Katharine Jefferts Schori,
Episcopal Church Center
My dear Presiding Bishop:
My attention has been drawn to your letter of April 30th ostensibly written to me but published on the Episcopal News Service website.
In light of the concerns that you raise it might be helpful to be reminded of the actions and decisions that have led to our current predicament.
At the emergency meeting of the Primates in October 2003 it was made clear that the proposed actions of the Episcopal Church would ‘tear the fabric of our Communion at its deepest level, and may lead to further division on this and further issues …’ Sadly, this proved to be true as many provinces did proceed to declare broken or impaired communion with the Episcopal Church. Since that time the Primates have established task forces, held numerous meetings and issued a variety of statements and communiqués but the brokenness remains, our Provinces are divided, and so the usual protocol and permissions are no longer applicable.

Victory - The Example of Christ
People of God,
As we join the rest of the Christian world to celebrate our Lord’s resurrection, we do so in the awareness that it is a celebration of obedience over rebellion and the spirit of disobedience. It is a celebration of the triumph of God’s will over man’s selfish, egoistic and often myopic agenda. Easter is the celebration of good over evil, life over death, love of God over sin. Easter celebrates the concern of Christ for others.
We should also be aware that this victory did not come easily. It was a fierce Spiritual battle as demonstrated vividly in the garden of Gethsemane where Jesus prayed till his sweat was as blood (Luke 22:44), consider the mock trial, the unjust beatings and the negative attitude of the mob against him. In all these, Christ was not a helpless victim.

The Church of Nigeria Standing Committee meeting held between Thursday 14th and Friday 15th September 2006 at St Paul's Cathedral Diobu - Port Harcourt
My dear People of God,
The peace of the Lord be always with you as you worship Him in the beauty of holiness and in the joy of the Holy Spirit.
In the past few days, the Standing Committee of our Church has been meeting at St. Paul's Cathedral, Diobu, Port Harcourt in the Diocese of Niger Delta North to consider under God, the theme WE ARE ON THE LORD'S SIDE (Exodus 32:26). This is in acknowledgement of the fact that our Church has come to that point in time when our identity can no longer be predicated on vague assumptions but rather on solid biblical convictions, and unequivocal confessions. Our Church must step out of the cobweb of twisted opinions that seek to capture both church and state as we face the challenges of greatness, fidelity and credibility on both fronts.
