Presiding Bishops letters to Powell and Sharon

Presiding Bishop Frank Griswold of the Episcopal Church of the United States of America (ECUSA) has written to Secretary of State Colin Powell and Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon citing concerns about today's arrest of Mordechai Vanunu, who served 18 years in prison for leaking details of Israel's nuclear program. According to Bishop Riah Abu El-Assal, Anglican Bishop in Jerusalem, Israeli special police forcefully entered the grounds of St. George's Cathedral and took Vanunu into custody. Vanunu was reportedly detained on suspicion of disclosing more state secrets.

Nazareth High School launches appeal

Bishop Riah High School has launched a campaign for a project that will benefit the community throughout the city of Nazareth. The school has started a library and is appealing for book donations to increase the shelf stock from 3,000 to 40-50,000 books.

"All interested are kindly asked to contribute to this vital project with one book, a book that has left a special and memorable impact on their lives," said the Rt Revd Riah Hanna Abu El-Assal, the Bishop in Jerusalem and the school's general director in a recent press release.
