Lambeth Conference: funding

The Board of Governors of the Church Commissioners, and the Archbishops' Council of the Church of England have both met within the past few days to discuss an approach from the Lambeth Conference Company* for financial help. The Board met this morning (August 11th) and the Council on Thursday August 7th.

The Secretary of the Lambeth Conference, the Revd Canon Kenneth Kearon has written a letter to the bishops attending the forthcoming Canterbury meeting outlining the form of discussion leading to “Reflections” that will mark the process of sharing what the Conference wishes to share with the wider church at its conclusion.

Bishops welcomed from across the world

Worshippers from across south-east Hampshire and the Isle of Wight will welcome bishops from across the globe next month (July).

Eleven Anglican bishops and their spouses from Africa and the USA will spend five nights in the Portsmouth diocese before heading for the Lambeth Conference in Canterbury.

The Rt Rev'd Dr Winston Halapua Appointed Lambeth Conference 2008 Chaplain

The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Revd Rowan Williams has announced the appointment of the Bishop Halapua as Chaplain for the Lambeth Conference 2008. Bishop Halapua says, 'it is an honour to be asked by the Archbishop to undertake this task and I look forward to the challenge. It will be good to work together on this level.'
