Chad Gandiya is consecrated Bishop of Harare

In an extraordinary double ceremony, former USPG staff member Chad Gandiya was first consecrated bishop and then enthroned as the Bishop of the Diocese of Harare, part of the Church of the Province of Central Africa (CPCA).

In the cold of a Zimbabwe winter morning, more than 5,000 people packed into one of Harare’s sports arenas for a jubilant four-hour eucharist. The service was presided over by the dean of the province, Bishop Albert Chama, from Zambia.

New Bishop elected for the Diocese of Harare

Delegation to the D.R Congo and Rwanda

The Archbishop of Burundi, the Most Revd Bernard Ntahoturi, recently led a 5-strong ecumenical delegation of church leaders from Burundi, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo that met with the presidents of the D.R. Dear Sisters and Brothers

I am still under shock as I write this Pastoral letter. A young mother and her son about 10 years old appeared at the doorstep of our flat recently asking for food. After more than 40 years as a priest I know the difference between a professional street beggar and a hungry person genuinely asking for food. She was no street beggar at all. Going by her appearance she had not seen water to bathe for a long time. This young mother represents many others in our community today in Zimbabwe.
