Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams told the annual meeting of the Compass Rose Society (CRS) in November that the tensions and ruptures within our Communion are not going to be resolved in a hurry. "Deep wounds heal slowly," the Archbishop said.
The Archbishop spoke at length about the Lambeth Conference 2008 and viewed a "photo cinema" presentation of Lambeth images from the Communications department. The Most Reverend Clive Handford and the Right Reverend Victoria Matthews also gave CRS members an update of the work of the Windsor Continuation Group and matters of the Anglican Covenant.

The Rt Revd David Beetge
When we received word last Friday in Jerusalem that Bishop David Beetge had died, there was total disbelief. Kirsten and I had spent a wonderful evening with Carol and David at the Lambeth Conference and although David was under treatment for Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, he looked great and was "vintage" David. It was a night of lots of laughter and recollection of the "good old days."

The Archbishops from the Anglican Church in Aotearoa, New Zealand and Polynesia
Christmas is often a time when we have many expectations – of whanau being together again, lots of food, especially kai moana, carol services and a chance to rest and unwind. The reality is often different. For all too many households, Christmas can be a time of short tempers, road rage, family strife, hardship, stress, overspending and growing debt, drunkenness or violence.

Anglicans around the world will begin observing Lent with service of penitence, litany, Eucharist and imposition of ashes. Lent is uniquely ‘popular’ with Anglicans with study guides, projects, appeals (such as the Anglican Church of Canada) and Lenten books - as with the traditional Archbishop of Canterbury's lent Book.
From Aotearoa/New Zealand and Polynesia website:
Lent is a period of intense preparation for Easter. It's also called the ‘forty days’ - there are forty week days between Ash Wednesday and Easter Day.
