The Bishop of Durham is pleased to announce the appointment of Reverend Dr Miranda Threlfall-Holmes as Vicar of Belmont and Pittington. Miranda will be licensed on 16 September 2012 at 4.00pm St. Mary Magdalene, Belmont.
The Bishop of Durham said: "I am delighted to be able announce Dr Threlfall-Holmes appointment today. Recently she has been active in championing the voice of women in ministry relating to the admitting of women to the episcopate and I value her drive and enthusiasm for ministry that she will bring to the Diocese of Durham. Her experiences as Chaplain at Durham University will be very helpful in this Parish and I look forward to working with her in the coming years."
Dr Threlfall-Holmes said: ”I am really excited about working with so many talented and able people. I bring energy and enthusiasm to the job and I am looking forward to it. My background is in researching the history of Durham so I am delighted to be contributing to the contemporary church here as well.
“I have a lot of experience in children’s ministry, something which is a real growth area in the parish. I am looking forward to working with the schools in the parish and encouraging young people to engage in faith.”
