Peace Making Conference

The Bible offers a radically different vision of conflict and for how we respond. Clergy, lay leaders, and staff from the churches and institutions in Egypt gathered together for a three day conference on Peace Making. The conference presented principles on how to solve conflict in a Biblical way. We discuss how these principles could be applied to personal con-flict situations, and to help guide others through conflict situations.

The conference was led by Mr. Chip Zimmer, the Vice-President of Peacemaker Ministries. This is his second visit, as he co-led an inter-denominational retreat hosted by the Diocese in 2011.

A group from different ministries and churches in Egypt organized the conference; Rev. Faraj Hanna, Dr Michel Awad, Dr. Ma-nal, Dr. Mokhles Asal, and Mrs Sherry Wageeh.

Sherry says of the conference: “It was great to have all of the institutions and church lead-ers gathered together for a conference. Everyone enjoyed meeting each other and sharing together. It was fun and practical to have case studies acted out, which were based on real life experiences in the Egyptian context. The participants were enthusiastic in sharing their opinions, and asking questions. We received feedback from the participants that they would like to have a follow-up conference.” We pray that we will apply the Biblical principles of peacemaking which we learnt as we seek to serve God and our neighbours in Egypt.
