Church of Nigeria elects Bishops and Archbishop

The Episcopal synod of the church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) met at St. Peter’s Chapel Ibru Retreat Centre Agbarha Otor, Diocese of Ughell Delta State and has elected two Bishops and an Archbishop.

The Rt. Rev. Chris Omotunde was elected bishop of Ekiti Diocese in the Ecclesiastical Province of Ondo. He will succeed the Retiring Bishop of Ekiti and Archbishop of Ondo Province Most Rev. Samuel Adedayo Abe. The Episcopal Synod also elected The Venerable John Aruakpor as Bishop in the church of God for the Diocese of Oleh in the Ecclesiastical province of Bendel. He will take over from The Rt. Rev. Edewor, who is retiring from his episcopacy.

The Rt. Rev. Dr. George Olatunji Lasebikan was also duly elected Archbishop in the church of God for the Ecclesiastical Province of Ondo; he succeeds The Most Rev. Samuel Oladayo Abe the retiring bishop of Ekiti diocese and Archbishop of Ondo.

Consecration, enthronement and presentation would be announced later.
