The Solomon Islands Christian Association holds AGM

The Solomon Islands Christian Association (SICA) had completed its 45TH Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Honiara last week.

The AGM was held from January 24-25 that brought together SICA Head of churches namely Roman Catholic, Anglican Church of Melanesia, United Church and South Seas Evangelical Church (SSEC).

Newest member of the association, Salvation Army and associate member, Church of Nazarene were also present in the meeting.

Except for another associate member Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) which could not attend it.

SICA secretary, James Funa said the churches discussed the association’s matters, their membership and honors and awards issue.

He said on top of the meeting, they also discussed the upcoming Pacific Church Conference which Solomon Islands will host from September 9-16.

Meanwhile, SICA wants to acknowledge the contributions from the congregations of the Churches in Solomon Islands in support of the victims of the Tsunami and earthquake that devastated parts of Tonga, Samoa and American Samoa.

“The response to the call for relief assistance to the victims of the floods in Australia is also very much appreciated by the SICA AGM.

“The letters of gratitude we received were most appreciative of our sign of love and concern,” SICA said.

“These are great moments for the SICA Family when we exercise real Christian Unity and realize the dreams of those who founded SICA over forty years ago.

“It is the hope of the AGM that the SICA Family will continue to uphold and maintain this genuine concern for those in need,” it said.
