Archbishop of York to Visit Pretoria

The Most Revd. & Rt Hon. Dr. John Sentamu, Archbishop of York, is to visit the Diocese of Pretoria, South Africa from 10th October to 16th October 2012.

The Archbishop has been invited, with his wife Margaret, to the Diocese of Pretoria by the Bishop, the Right Reverend Dr Johannes Seoka. During his visit the Archbishop will spend time in Pretoria East, Magaliesberg and Rustenburg District.

The Archbishop is to present the award of ‘St Alban The Martyr’ the highest Order given to lay people at the Bishop’s House. Dr Sentamu is to lead a clergy day workshop at St Alban’s Cathedral. He is to preside and preach at a Eucharistic service, and will visit Church schools in Pretoria.

The Archbishop said: "I am looking forward immensely to my visit to the Diocese of Pretoria and the varied programme of ministry I shall undertake."

Thursday 11 October

Friday 12 October
Archbishop to visit Magaliesberg Archdeaconery: Temba and Moretele

Saturday 13 October
Conveying of the Order of ‘St Alban’s The Martyr’ the highest Order given to lay people.

Sunday 14 October
Eucharistic service in the Archdeaconery of Rustenburg District. Archbishop to preside and preach.

Monday 15 October
Archbishop to visit Diocesan schools in and around Pretoria.

Tuesday 16 October
Archbishop to lead a clergy day workshop at St Alban’s Cathedral.
