Inspirational people who help their organisation benefit the wider community will be recognised in a new award sponsored by the Church in Wales.

The hunt is on for people or groups making a real difference to the lives of those around them for a new category in the Inspire Wales Awards.

The Corporate Social Responsibility award aims to encourage organisations to be more involved in their communities. Set up and sponsored by the Church in Wales, it is one of the 10 awards run by the Institute of Welsh Affairs in partnership with the Western Mail. All the awards are open to individuals or groups working in any sector in Wales.

The Bishop of Swansea and Brecon, the Right Rev John Davies, who will be on the judging panel, said, “To make a real difference to society, it’s not just individuals who need to get involved – companies and other organisations are part of society too, and the idea of this award is to promote initiatives that combine voluntary effort with support from companies or employers. That support could, for example, be financial assistance, free access to expertise, or goods in kind. There are countless ways in which co-operation and collaboration across the board can bring about lasting benefits to the lives of both communities and individuals.

“And, although there will be one outright winner, the real value of the award is in encouraging lots of good ideas to put forward and recognised for the good which their originators do. We look forward to seeing a wide range of initiatives that show how businesses (or public or third sector organisations) can improve the lives of other people – above and beyond what they do to earn their bread and butter.”

Chwilio am bobl i ysbrydoli Cymru

Caiff pobl ysbrydoledig sy'n helpu eu sefydliad i roi budd i'r gymuned ehangach eu cydnabod mewn gwobr newydd a noddir gan yr Eglwys yng Nghymru. 

Rydym yn chwilio am bobl neu grwpiau sy’n gwneud gwahaniaeth go iawn i fywydau'r rhai o'u hamgylch ar gyfer categori newydd yng Ngwobrau Ysbrydoli Cymru. 

Nod y wobr Cyfrifoldeb Cymdeithasol Corfforaethol yw annog sefydliadau i gymryd mwy o ran yn eu cymunedau. Mae'r wobr, a sefydlwyd a noddir gan yr Eglwys yng Nghymru, yn un o 10 gwobr a gaiff eu cynnal gan y Sefydliad Materion Cymreig mewn partneriaeth gyda'r Western Mail. Mae'r holl wobrau ar agor i unigolion neu grwpiau'n gweithio mewn unrhyw sector yng Nghymru. 

Dywedodd y Gwir Barchedig John Davies, Esgob Abertawe ac Aberhonddu, a fydd ar y panel beirniaid, "I wneud gwahaniaeth go iawn i gymdeithas, nid dim ond unigolion sydd angen iddynt gymryd rhan - mae cwmnïau a sefydliadau eraill hefyd yn rhan o gymdeithas, a syniad y wobr yw hyrwyddo cynlluniau sy'n cyfuno ymdrech wirfoddol gyda chefnogaeth gan gwmnïau neu gyflogwyr. Er enghraifft, gallai'r gefnogaeth honno fod yn gymorth ariannol, mynediad am ddim i arbenigedd, neu nwyddau. Mae ffyrdd di-rif y gall cydweithredu a chydweithio ar draws y bwrdd ddod â manteision parhaol i fywydau cymunedau ac unigolion. 

"Ac er mai un prif enillydd fydd, gwir werth y wobr yw annog llawer o syniadau da i gael eu cyflwyno a'u cydnabod oherwydd gwaith da'r sawl sy'n gyfrifol amdanynt. Edrychwn ymlaen at weld ystod eang o gynlluniau sy'n dangos sut y gall busnesau (neu sefydliadau cyhoeddus neu drydydd sector) wella bywydau pobl eraill - yn ychwanegol at yr hyn y maent yn ei wneud i ennill eu bara menyn."
