Deans from across Australia, New Zealand and Fiji gather in the Cathedral this Thursday (11 August) to spend a few days in conference and sharing of ideas, challenges and joys.
Prof Andrew Bradstock, holder of the Howard Paterson Chair in Theology and Public Issues at Otago University, is the key speaker. Dean Peter Catt of St John’s Brisbane, sister cathedral to Wellington, will preach on Sunday morning.
“While the Australian deans have always been generous in inviting their Kiwi counterparts to join them and a number of individual deans have crossed the ditch each year, this is the first time the New Zealanders have reciprocated in inviting the Australians here en masse," Dean Frank Nelson said.
"I look forward to the opportunity of giving our brethren across the Tasman a taste of Aotearoa New Zealand, and of course, hearing from their perspective. On Friday we will visit the National Archives to view the Treaty of Waitangi.”
