President Bishop's tribute to John Stott

‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’ I imagine that by these words, our Lord welcomed His faithful servant John Stott. We thank God for John’s fruitful life, ministry and for the many whom he discipled during his life.

John Stott set before us an excellent example of a man of God who invested his gifts in equipping church leaders all over the world. I believe that he will continue to have a great impact, through his books, on many generations to come. We, the church in the Arab world, will continue to treasure his books which were translated into Arabic as well as his training seminars.

I had the privilege of visiting him in 2006. During this visit we were reflecting on how compromising the biblical truth contributed to the current crisis and divisions within the church. His advice to me then was” Hold onto the truth because the truth will prevail at the end.” As we celebrate the life and ministry of John Stott, may we, by God’s Grace, continue to hold on the Truth.
