Zambian Anglicans’ food advocacy hit the headlines when they won Government backing in their call for the campaign for food security.
The partnership came after Ms Grace Mazala Phiri, national programmes director for the Zambia Anglican Council, contacted the Zambian Agriculture Ministry with the food advocacy materials produced by the Anglican Alliance.
It was the first time that the Zambian Government has worked with a faith-based organisation for its World Food Day activities.
Anglican church services on World Food Day focussed on food security to take the message to the wider public – as well as to highlight the role of international community in providing better access to quality food for poor people.
The Church activities were filmed by Zambian television and broadcast nationally. Clips from the coverage can be downloaded from this page.
The Anglican Alliance food advocacy materials were funded by a donation from the Church in Wales.
