The Provincial Secretary of the Anglican Church of Kenya, Rev Canon Rosemary Mbogo, today warned not to be taken in by an email alleging to be from Archbishop Eliud Wabukala.
Canon Mbogo said that her office had received the email soliciting for funds for the Archbishop's late wife Caren’s medication, but that it had been totally false.
"The ACK wishes to inform our partners, friends and Primates that the Primate of Kenya The Most Rev. Dr. Eliud Wabukala has not at any one time sought for donations to have Caren Wabukala (now promoted to higher glory before us) undergo any medical procedures," she said.
"In fact, she passed on as she prepared to attend our normal evening service at Bishopsbourne, not in a hospital bed. Any mail stating otherwise and seeking any donations to clear any hospital or medication bills should be disregarded as there are people who would like to use the Primate’s current situation to fraudulently obtain money from his friends and church partners."
