Bishop celebrates new Clinic in Ramalla and appeals for vital equipment.

Diabetics in the West Bank now have a much needed clinic thanks to the generosity and determination of Anglicans and Episcopalians in Jerusalem, Ireland, America and elsewhere.

An estimated 10% of Palestinian women suffer from the condition and vascular healthcare is critical for them and other diabetics who require qualified medical staff and the appropriate equipment for diagnosis and treatment.

"We thanks God and the many faithful among United Thank Offering (UTO), the Diocese of Los Angeles, and all who have made the construction of the new medical clinic possible," said Bishop in Jerusalem The Rt Revd Suheil Dawani.

This handicapped accessible clinic is located in new space which has been built above the church hall at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in downtown Ramallah.

The outpatient clinic, which is open to all people regardless of faith, will focus primarily on treating the complicated consequences of diabetes among the Palestinian people.

Despite this significant first step work cannot begin as the clinic lacks a much needed ECHO machine and specialised clinical furniture.

"These would make the clinic a reality, so we can begin saving the lives of thousands of people," said Bp Dawani.

"We invite you to join our friends in the Diocese of Clougher, Ireland who held countless teas and fundraisers to provide the first major pieces of equipment and the American Friends of the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem who sent additional support.
