A short film showing the work of Anglican churches in Swaziland, Malawi and Uruguay in combating the effects of HIV/AIDS has just been produced by the British based world mission agency USPG: Anglicans in World Mission.
The Revd Canon Edgar Ruddock, Director of USPG’s International Relations Team, said: ‘The impact is of the HIV epidemic is enormous – but there is hope. Anglican Churches throughout the world are praying for change and supporting people through a huge range of programmes.
‘What’s distinctive about the Anglican contribution is that, in many rural communities, the Anglican Church is the only source of healthcare.
‘This HIV work is one way for the churches to share God’s love by offering both practical and spiritual support.’
The film is entitled Action on HIV, and it comes with a free church worship resource, including sermon and bible study material, and an outline for creative worship. It would be particularly suitable for use around the time of World AIDS Day (1 December)
Free copies of the film and worship resource can be ordered by calling USPG on +44 (0)207 73785678 or emailing enquiries@uspg.org.uk
