Earlier this year the Primate of Church of Nigeria, the Most Revd Peter Akinola, announced the election of the Rt Revd Ugochukwu Ezeoke, Bishop of Aba as the new Archbishop of the ecclesiastical province of Niger-Delta. He then announced that the General Secretary of the Church of Nigeria, the Venerable Oluranti Odubogun who was elected to the Vacant See of Ife Diocese.

However at the same House of Bishops gathering, which met at St Peter’s Chapel, Ibru Anglican Centre, Agbarha-Otor, Delta State on in January, 2007, 19 other Bishops for newly created missionary dioceses were named.

The consecration service for the new bishops will take place Sunday March 4th 2007, at Cathedral Church of the Advent - Gwarimpa Abuja at 10 am. This could well be the largest ever Anglican ordination and consecration of bishops for a single province.
