Mothers Union in Central Africa to demonstrate against homosexuality

Demonstration to be held during Mary's Day celebrations - 19th to 25th March 2007

At the Provincial Mothers Union meeting held at St. Augustine’s Mission, Penhalonga in Mutare Zimbabwe on 27th November 2006, the following resolution was made:

The Mothers Union were concerned with the threat of same sex marriages which is against our Biblical Teaching in that God created man and woman (Genesis Chapter 2 verse 22 to 25).

Furthermore this practice is against our cultural beliefs that, forbids same sex marriages.

Therefore we hereby resolve that as Mothers Union in this Province, we will fight against homosexuality and its vices.

Appreciating the fact that the Episcopal Conference has in the past expressed this sentiment, we as the Mothers Union in this Province have agreed to do the following:

We will set aside time to pray and fast for God to intervene and protect his people in this Province against Homosexuality and its Vices.

We will raise awareness of the communities we live in, in all our countries as to the evils of Homosexuality through demonstrations on an agreed date.

We also request Episcopal Conference to support this initiative so that the whole of the Anglican Communion in this Province would be united in this fight against Homosexuality and its Vices.
