Anglicans in Nigeria will gather in Jos, Plateau State as the Church holds a National Prayer Meeting with the theme ‘My Name shall be Great among the Nations’
The convocation which is expected to hold between 12th and 15th November 2007 shall have in attendance all prayer ministries in the Anglican Church of Nigeria; it is also open to Christians from other denominations in the country.
According to the National Chairman of Church of Nigeria Prayer Convocation, the Rt. Revd Sosthenes Eze, the theme is carefully chosen to reflect ‘the raging controversy in the Anglican Communion where the devil is making deliberate attempt to diminish the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ and to hinder His work; but Anglican faithfuls in Nigeria are gathering to pray and to stand up against such moves that bring the name God to contempt.’
Collaborating this view, the National Secretary Ven E. Ejianya said the prayer convocation is being organized specifically for all concerned Anglicans in the Church to make intensive intercessions in total obedience to the Word of God, for the Nation and the Communion.
Speakers at the event include the Most Revd Joseph Akinfenwa, Rt Revd Ken Okeke, Rt Revd Emmanuel Egbunu, and Rt. Revd Benjamin Emamezi among others.
The host and Bishop of Jos Diocese, Rt. Revd Ben Kwashi while speaking through the chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, Ven. S.D. Fube expressed delight to host such a gathering of prayer ministers. The diocese in conjunction with the missionary dioceses of Bukuru and Pankshin have accepted to host the meeting in recognition of what God is doing to heal the Communion through the Church of Nigeria.
