Diocese of Europe to Celebrate 25th Anniversary

The Rt Revd Geoffrey Rowell, Bishop in Europe, has designated the weekend of October 29-30 as the weekend when the Diocese in Europe should celebrate the 25th anniversary of its unification. In view of the impossibility of the entire diocese coming together at that time, the Bishop emphasised that "the important thing is that we celebrate our shared life and mission in Christ over the same weekend, if not in the same place."

Bishop Geoffrey invited all in the diocese to join with him "and with each other in a great net of prayer and praise to almighty God for his goodness and faithfulness to us all, both before and since that significant moment 25 years ago."

The Bishop called the weekend an "opportunity for outreach and worship." It is, he said, a chance to "reflect upon the mission of the Church - our diocese no less than any other - to evangelize the world by acts of faith and hope and love, and by the testimony of our preaching and witness."

Bishop Geoffrey pointed out that the Diocese of Europe shares its silver jubilee with the Lusitanian Church and the Spanish Reformed Episcopal Church, offering prayers for their Bishops - Fernando and Carlos, clergy and people.
