CNI and Christian Aid reaffirm commitment

Church of North India (CNI) and Christian Aid have reaffirmed their commitment to work among the least, the poor and the marginalized.

"Jesus Christ came for the marginalized, distressed, hopeless, outcastes, the poor and the least. He came to restore dignity to all His creation", said the Most Revd Z James Terom, Moderator, CNI, as he spoke to a gathering of a cross section of CNI delegates from different parts of the country and representatives from Christian Aid, in a programme organized to strengthen the commitment of CNI and Christian Aid, one of the mission partners of CNI.

It was on 4 August, 2004 at CNI Bhavan when Dr Daleep Mukarji, Director Christian Aid, Dr Tom P and Ms Bellinda Bennet from Christian Aid and the Most Revd Z James Terom, Moderator, CNI, the Rt Revd Joel Mall, Deputy Moderator, the Revd Enos Das Pradhan, General Secretary, Director Programmes, Chief Functionaries of the Development and Health Boards of CNI, and various delegates representing different fields of concerns of CNI came together to re-commit themselves and re-affirm their commitment to work for a common cause which caters to the least, the poor, the marginalized and the oppressed in the society.

Dr Daleep Mukeji, while responding to the CNI presentation of its 'priorities of the decade' and after having heard from the functionaries and implementers of CNI, and the benefited from the field, emphasized on the common mission of both CNI and Christian Aid, which is working towards establishing a new heaven and a new earth. He stressed on the pressing need to equip, educate and empower the poor, excluded and marginalized children, women, dalits and adivasis to initiate a movement for social justice.

In conclusion, the Revd Enos Das Pradhan re-affirmed the commitment of CNI to work towards establishing the reign of God with a holistic and integrated visionary approach, which aims at restoring the dignity of all creation and re-committed that "together we can make a difference" bringing hope to the hopeless, and by bringing to the center-stage those who are at the periphery.
