Churches in Aotearoa-New Zealand are to observe their first ever "Media Prayer Day" on Sunday 8 August, 2004.
Organisers from the Christian Broadcasting Association are calling on churches to pray for the spread of the Gospel through this country's mass media. The focus of this year's media prayer day is on Christians working in mass media and media people who open doors for Christian media opportunities.
The Christian Broadcasting Association has set up a web site with a suggested prayer and a variety of resources for churches to use in promoting the day. The prayer is as follows:
"Lord Jesus Christ, You commissioned us to take you Gospel into all the world. Today, together, all over New Zealand, we pray for fresh vision to find opportunities to present the Gospel through the media. We pray for the willingness of those with media involvement to be part of the Christian action. May we, with them, be strengthened in the commitment to spread your message of love. In your name we pray, Amen."
