ACT Youth Week - We CAN stop AIDS!

Tumapate wapi mtu kama huyu mwenye roho wa Mugnu ndani yake?" ( Mwanzo 41:38 ) "Can we find anyone else like this - one in whom is the Spirit of God?"

Almost 1,000 youth from dioceses within the Anglican Church of Tanzania came to Dodoma for the ACT Youth Week, where they were greeted by the Dodoma Regional Commissioner The Hon Mussa Nkangaa.

Drama, song and discussion all gave the message of AIDS prevention. There was much discussion on ways of generating income from the Youth Choirs who delighted those present with their performances.

The Pastors proved their physical fitness by overcoming the youth in a football match by 3 goals to 1. The guest of honour, Mr Malcolm Hunter from England, who was born in Kenya, encouraged our youth to follow the message of abstinence and faithfulness in the fight against AIDS in order that we may bring back to East Africa the full joy of life in Christ. The match raised funds to support orphans who are attending schools of the Diocese of Central Tanganyika.

The weekend conference concluded with an act of worship at which the Archbishop encouraged all present to spread the messages of AIDS prevention by example as well as by word and drama. He promised support for the next Youth Conference with a sum of US$1,500. He concluded by asking the young people to be ready to support the proposed Anglican University.

We commend our future plans to our heavenly father.

David Mdabuko
Conference Coordinator
